It’s a nice set-up for the Bank Holiday.
If you want to acknowledge St Brigid (and our newest day off), a workshop in honour of the goddess of healing and fertility and patroness saint of Ireland will take place at the Cork Collective in the Triskel Arts Centre.
Hosted by the multi-talented former medical doctor, actor, and musician, Lewis Barfoot, the workshop on Monday, February 5th from 1pm promises an insightful journey into self-discovery and growth.
There will be a guided vocal and physical warm-up, movement medicine, dance, song, ritual, poetry, and a poignant lamenting ceremony inspired by the age-old tradition of keening.
In the supportive company of fellow participants, there will be ample space for journaling, sharing, and reflecting, all while learning techniques to calm the nervous system.
“It is a beautiful opportunity to give voice to something that wishes to be heard or released,” said Lewis.
“To let go of fear, doubt, trauma, thoughts that may stop you from being your highest self. We will warm up the body and voice in gentle and fun ways to be able to use them throughout the workshop. This is an invitation to release any blocked energy, especially in your throat and heart chakras.”
Limited to just 12 participants, the workshop spans a little over four hours, including a short break where nibbles like nuts, chocolate, fruit, and tea will be provided. Comfort is key, so wear something cosy and bring a water bottle, a cup for your tea, and, of course, your journal and pen.
