It’s just a taste of things to come.
The enterprising sisters currently undertaking the renovation of the former Castlefreke Hotel at Owenahincha have opened a coffee trailer at the entrance to the property.
As part of the first phase of Aislinn and Nicole O’Shea’s new Little Island Hotel, big plans are unfolding at the location, where a café named 1964 (a nod to the date the original hotel opened) will open in April.
All going to plan, a pizza spot called Swim Club, set inside an old swimming pool on the property will also be open in time for the Easter weekend, with plans to restore 24 hotel rooms to their heyday best and welcome overnight guests down the line.
A large restaurant will form part of the complex too, providing everything necessary for guests to enjoy an extended stay near one of Cork’s most popular Blue Flag beaches.

For now, the entrepreneurs, who relocated to Castlefreke from Kildare to make their dreams of running a hotel a reality, have opened their Little Island Coffee van and it’s all hands on deck as family members from home make frequent trips to West Cork to help them out.
They’re serving Stone Valley Coffee, toasted sandwiches, and a variety of baked goodies on weekdays from 10.30am until 4.30pm.
