Catch a bit of Mexican music and craft at St Peter’s on Culture Night

Culture Night is almost here.
And St Peter’s on North Main Street in Cork City is pulling out all the stops for an evening packed with music, creativity and a celebration of different cultures on September 18th.
The Mexican Community in Cork will be back for the festivities, bringing a colourful taste of Mexico to the city, while the Kalyna Choir will be making its debut on the St Peter’s Culture Night programme.
And there’s plenty happening throughout the evening, so you’ll want to keep an eye on the clock.
First up: Tile Time
At 6pm, visitors can get creative with their own Talavera-inspired tile.
Talavera tiles are hand-painted ceramic tiles originating in Mexico and are known for their bright floral, geometric and nature-inspired designs.

You’ll get the chance to design and colour your own cardboard version to take home – so basically, a little Mexican-inspired arts and crafts session to kick off the evening.
Meet the Kalyna Choir
Then at 7pm, the Ukrainian Community Choir Kalyna will take to the stage.
The choir brings together Ukrainians living in Ireland through their shared love of music and culture. Founded four years ago, Kalyna works to preserve Ukrainian traditions while also creating a space for friendship and cultural exchange.
They’ll perform a mix of traditional and contemporary Ukrainian songs on the night.
Viva México!
And then, at 7.45pm, it’s time to turn things up a notch with Viva México! Dance, Music & Tradition.
The Mexican Community in Cork will showcase the vibrant spirit of Mexico with traditional dance, live singing and plenty of colour. Expect colourful costumes, lively rhythms and beautiful songs celebrating Mexico’s rich cultural heritage.
If your idea of Culture Night involves doing a bit more than wandering around a gallery and calling it a night, this one is definitely worth checking out.
