A powerful new documentary about life in Gaza gets its first screening in Cork this month

Two million people in Gaza are still not safe.
A new documentary exploring what life is really like for families there during the so-called ceasefire will have its first screening in Cork later this month.
Still Not Safe: Life in Gaza During the ‘Ceasefire’, produced by Trócaire in 2026, will be screened at Cork City Library on Friday, September 18th. The evening will begin at 6pm with reflections from Trócaire’s Palestine team, alongside activities for children, before the documentary screening gets underway at 7.30pm.

The film follows the daily lives of Mahmoud, a father, Yasmin, a mother, and others living through the devastating reality facing people across Gaza.
Despite the ceasefire, around two million people continue to face extraordinary challenges in their everyday lives – from finding food and clean water to accessing functioning hospitals and securing essential medical treatment for children.
For many, even grieving has become a painful reality, with families mourning loved ones among the ruins of homes, schools and universities.
What does justice look like?
Against this backdrop, Still Not Safe asks some of the most difficult questions facing the region: where is dignity to be found in the midst of such devastation, and what does justice look like for those who have lost so much?
The Cork screening offers an opportunity to hear directly from Trócaire’s Palestine team and to learn more about the realities behind the headlines.
The organisers have also thanked Izzeddeen “Izz” Alkarajeh and Eman Aburabi of Cafe Izz for supporting the special event.
It promises to be a moving evening centred on the voices and experiences of people living through one of the world’s most devastating humanitarian crises.
