Argos is expecting a Christmas Eve rush on this one surprising item…

We can’t decide whether this is romantic or not.
As everyone begins the wind down to Christmas day, Argos is gearing up for a major rush on a very specific item.
It’s the most wonderful time… to propose, apparently; Argos jewellery experts are predicting a bumper engagement period this festive season, following analysis of 2016 sales data which revealed a huge 50 percent rise in ring sales on Christmas Eve.
When it comes to ring specifics, the retailer has stocked up on three-stone rings. The reason? Meghan Markle Mania prompted a 25 percent rise in sales of the classic trilogy evergreen design when the Royal engagement was announced in November.
However, the most popular type of engagement ring is still the classic diamond solitaire, with 51 percent sold versus other engagement styles, with a higher demand at Argos for 9ct white gold.
There’s also been a rise in coloured-stone rings being bought as engagement rings, particularly with millennial customers who are looking for something a bit quirkier than the standard solitaire.
“Research shows time and again that the magical festive period is the most popular time for proposals, and our sales data points to the same conclusion.” says Jo Rowland, Jewellery Buying Manager at Argos.
“In fact, we sell more engagement rings on Christmas Eve than we do for Valentine’s Day.”
The last-minute sales phenomenon does beg the question; are the customers hopeless romantics determined to seal the deal on Christmas morning or are they just all out of ideas for meaningful gifts?
Either way, Argos is ready for them – would-be Romeos and Juliettes can purchase sparklers right up until closing time on Christmas Eve.
Just give it a bit of thought first, yeah?
