Oh, to be a teenager again.
As if boundless energy and an unwrinkled face weren’t good enough, now Cork’s lucky eighteen-year-olds can get their hands on a free ticket to explore Europe by rail this summer.
Yes; totally free.
A previous scheme saw 2,524 Irish people apply for 140 free Inter Rail tickets. Now, in a move announced today by Ireland South MEP, Deirdre Clune, the European Commission will make 12,000 additional free tickets available as part of DiscoverEU on November 29th, 2018.
Irish 18-year-olds will then have until December 11th, 2018 to apply for a free ticket, giving them the opportunity to travel around Europe between April 15th and October 31st, 2019.
Inter Rail tickets can cost between €337, depending on the countries you want to visit, so nabbing a free one will leave more cash in the wallet for all that cheap beer and sightseeing.
