A popular masked funk band are hanging up their saxophones and hosting a funeral

It’s the end of a funk era.
They’ve been foxes, they’ve been turtles, badgers, and even adorable puffins. Now the masked members of Quangodelic, a seven to fifteen-piece funk band, are calling it a day.
The Cork band has graced the stages of some of Cork’s most iconic venues and seen their fair share of wee hours in the pursuit of the funk life and crazy dance moves.
They took to social media this week to announce their retirement after over ten years of performing, but like all the greats, they aren’t about to go out without a party. Or in this case, a funeral.
“After over 10 years of bringing quality big band funk to you all, Quangodelic are hanging up their masks,” they announced on Facebook.
“We want to bring you all one last concert to celebrate all the joy we have had together and to say thank you for your support,” they continued, thanking Leesiders who have come out and boogied with them over the years.
“Big love to everyone who has supported us, danced, Known the words better than me, and generally had fun with us. You have made us very happy and thanks.”
Quangodelic, The Funeral, will take place on Thursday, August 31st in Cyprus Avenue.
Tickets are €10 and are available from Eventbrite here.
