A new three-day live comedy festival will take place in Ballycotton this autumn

Remember the joy of attending a real, live gig?
Well, the seaside village of Ballycotton is looking firmly towards the post-Covid-19 future, announcing a brand new three-day comedy festival set to take place later this year.
The inaugural Ballycotton Comedy Festival will run from October 1st to October 3rd, 2021 and while the acts have yet to be revealed, the event has sent a ripple of excitement through lockdown-weary comedy fans everywhere.

Announcing the event on social media, the organisers invited guests to laugh their Ballycottonsocks off, promising “world-class shows with packed lineups held over three days in some of Ballycotton’s best venues.”
The event will bring a slew of staycationers to the town, where Sea Church Ballycotton opened just before the pandemic hit following a multi-million euro renovation of St Colman’s Church by local businessman Pearse Flynn.
The newly renovated Cush guesthouse and restaurant are eagerly awaiting visitors, with Ballycotton’s Bayview Hotel also expected to reopen this summer once restrictions are lifted.
Provided the vaccine rollout continues apace and Covid-19 is firmly on the way out, the autumn festival could be one of the first real events to take place since the entertainment industry effectively shut down in March 2020.
