A mystic labyrinth consultant is hosting an intriguing free workshop in St Luke’s

Searching for a feature to set your garden apart?
A professional labyrinth builder and all ’round labyrinth expert is hosting an intriguing workshop at St Luke’s Community Garden later this month.
Tony Ærcyus Christie is a teacher, facilitator, and creator of labyrinths and a lifetime member of The Labyrinth Society.
While based in Cork, he has presented workshops in many countries including Canada, the USA, Australia, Hong Kong, and the Netherlands, speaking at events and conferences “with a view to inspiring and uplifting” those present.
On Saturday, September 23rd, you can catch him in the Community Garden in the old quarry on Ballyhooly Road from 2pm to 5pm.
So what exactly is a labyrinth?
A labyrinth is an ancient symbol usually circular in shape that contains one path leading from the outside to the centre. Many people believe labyrinths have connections to the Tarot, alchemy, crop circles, and the cosmos.
In Greek mythology, the labyrinth was an elaborate, confusing structure designed to hold the Minotaur, the monster eventually killed by the hero Theseus.
Cork already has a rather good example of a labyrinth at Saint Fin Barre’s Cathedral on Bishop Street, pictured above. The crew at St Luke’s hope to create another one in their garden.
“With the right guidance and intention, every step you take in a labyrinth can bring you a greater understanding of your life’s purpose on your own sacred journey,” says Tony.

“Join us to learn about the history, origins, and symbolism of the labyrinth. During this workshop we’ll learn how to create a ground labyrinth and take the first steps to realise it for St Luke’s Community Garden.” added the organisers.
