A much-loved lost bunny has been reunited with its owner (just in time for Easter)

By Katie Mythen-Lynch March 11, 2021March 11, 2021

Well, this just made our day.

A worried little girl has been reunited with her beloved bunny rabbit buddy ‘Nana’… and it’s all thanks to the kindness of one Yay Cork reader.

Local designer Marta Sabina contacted Yay Cork after she spotted the toy outside the Electric bar and restaurant on the South Mall on Sunday.

The thoughtful creative, who creates handmade jewellery via her business Arboretum Studio noticed that the stuffed toy looked like it had been well-loved and realised that somewhere, its little owner was likely heartbroken at its disappearance.

Guys, can you help?

A reader found this much-loved bunny outside @ElectricCork in Cork City today and they would like to reunite it with its owner! 😭 💔

If this is your bun on the run, drop us a message and we’ll put you in touch. pic.twitter.com/ow6aTm8bkH

Marta’s photographs of the forlorn bunny were shared by Yay Cork readers across Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, where they were spotted by local dad Cearbhall Behan, who recognised the furry face and messaged us immediately:

“Hello Yay, there is a picture of a cute bunny called Nana which I think my daughter dropped outside Electric? Is it possible to get in touch, please? Thanks, Cearbhall.”

On Wednesday evening, Marta made sure Nana was placed directly into the arms of a delighted Nancy.

“I was so happy to be able to return it to her!” Marta told us.

“I have my own favourite childhood soft toy and I can imagine how sad she was for that short while!”
