A Glanmire athlete plans to run 32 marathons in 32 days (in a 32lb weighted vest)

It’s an insane challenge.
But one local athlete is planning to run 32 marathons in 32 days in each of Ireland’s 32 counties – and all while wearing a hefty 32lb weighted vest that decreases by just 1lb for each marathon run.
Glanmire runner and podcaster Conor O’Keefe came up with the idea for Project 32 as a way of highlighting the weight of mental health on our shoulders.
Having partnered with the digital mental health platform SilverCloud Health, his goal is to raise €100,000 for Pieta House.

Starting in Dublin on July 28th, Project 32 will continue around Ireland throughout August, eventually bringing Conor home to Cork on August 28th.
It’s not Conor’s first time in the limelight, earlier this year he featured on RTE’s Ultimate Hell Week he was also one of the participants in a documentary series called I’m Fine which aired on RTÉ2 in 2021.
He uses his podcast Flip the Script to explore a variety of themes relating to sport, mental health, and motivation.
