This fun running group meets at a different West Cork coffee shop or sauna each week

By Yay Cork March 6, 2026March 5, 2026

Ready to swap your lie-ins for fresh air and caffeine?

If you’re based in West Cork or you don’t mind a spin, Rise & Run is a welcoming running club designed for people of all abilities — from complete beginners looking for motivation to experienced runners who simply enjoy the social side of getting out on the road.

The group meets on Saturday mornings for relaxed runs of around 2km–5km, giving participants about 30 minutes of movement to start the weekend on the right foot. The emphasis is firmly on fun rather than finish times, with different routes available to suit varying paces so no one gets left behind.

It’s even dog-friendly so you can bring along a canine companion too.

While the group is based in Bandon, runners can also expect the occasional outing to explore scenic spots around West Cork — adding a little adventure to the weekly routine.

Organisers say the idea behind Rise & Run is simple: combine the benefits of running with the joy of socialising.

And for anyone who likes their exercise followed by a little recovery, the group is also planning a special sauna morning at The Recovery Yard in Bandon on March 14th. Runners can warm up after their session with a relaxing sauna experience, priced at €5 for 30 minutes or €10 for a full hour.

Rise & Run is open to everyone, whether you’re dusting off your trainers after a long break or looking to meet like-minded people who enjoy movement, conversation and a good dose of weekend positivity.

For those interested in joining, organisers say to simply get in touch to book a spot and come along. Join the group chat here.
