A flood-hit East Cork restaurant is cooking up a take-home Christmas feast

How about giving the chef a break this year?
A Midleton restaurant is now taking orders for a decadent fully-cooked Christmas Day dinner that can be reheated at home on the big day.
Sage on Main Street, one of many businesses that were badly affected by the flooding in East Cork this year, is happily back in business and they’ve come up with a marvellously tempting way for foodies to support local this Christmas.
At a reasonably €65 per person, the Sage Christmas Lunch at Home feast begins with canapes, dips, and condiments for the table to share (chicken liver parfait, cranberry, and port, croutes and breadsticks).
Starters include the eatery’s classic organic smoked salmon with pickles, pear and walnut salad, beetroot, and fresh mozzarella.
You might want to take a little break at this stage because the mouthwatering mains are roast turkey crown, glazed ham, and Cork spiced beef served with chestnut and sage stuffing, duck fat roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, honey and rosemary root vegetables, gravy, and cranberry sauce.

For dessert, there’s a classic sherry trifle, Christmas pudding with brandy butter, and Hegarty’s Cheddar Cheese with crackers and relish.
“Everything will be ready with instructions – there will be minimal preparation.” Sage owner Kevin Aherne told us.
“All items will come oven, microwave, and hob ready. Your lunch will be ready to collect on Saturday, December 23rd from Sage Restaurant from 9am-to 6pm.
No cooking or grocery shop and minimal washing up? Sounds like a merry Christmas to us.
There’s a kids options too and you can place your order now here.
