A Cork yoga teacher has created a free 15-minute class for CUH nurses and doctors

Time is precious on the frontline of a pandemic.
Now a local yoga teacher has created a way for Cork’s hardworking nurses and doctors to take a quick moment to decompress after a long day or night on the hospital wards.
Alma Murray, who has been teaching Vinyasa Flow yoga for over a decade, posted a video entitled ’15 Minutes of Freedom’ on her ‘Yoga with Alma’ IGTV feed.
Recorded on request for a group of nurses and doctors at Cork University Hospital and the Mercy Hospital, the video is now available to anyone who needs it during these stressful times.
“I thought it might benefit those in need of a short, heart-opening stretch,” says Alma.
“Feel free to pass it on to anyone else you think might benefit and remember to always give yourself a few minutes in Savasana at the end.”

A recent study found that just 20-minutes of yoga daily temporarily improved working memory. Another showed that a 12-minute yoga routine, practiced daily or every other day, led to better bone density.
“Practise what you can, where you can and know that that is enough…your body and mind will reap the rewards,” says Alma.
