A Cork bartender created a tasty new spiced IPA (and named it after her dog)

You can give it a bash this weekend.
A Cork bartender has created a tasty new IPA beer after winning a unique opportunity to concoct her own brew in a local competition.
Erika Andrews, a bartender in the Shelbourne Bar on MacCurtain Street, was the winner of Original 7 Beverage Company’s inaugural ‘Brew with Us’ bar staff competition.
Under the direction of master brewer Páidí Scully and his assistant Lucia Moreno, Erika, who is originally from Lithuania, created her signature ‘Shelby Dascher’, now on sale in the Shelbourne Bar and the Franciscan Well pub.
Inspired by her beloved Dachser dog, the brand name also includes a nod to the Shelbourne bar and the 90s branding of Original 7 with a fun Tamagotchi icon.
“Bartending can be a high-intensity job but when you are working with great people in a fun environment, it is a joy to go to work every day,” said Andrews.
“I didn’t know much about the production of craft beer before and now I fully appreciate how much work goes into it. I can’t quite believe I have made my own spiced IPA beer with my favourite flavours – ginger, lemon and blood orange!”
