Why have a stage when you can have a roundhouse?

Back in the day, roundhouses were a type of traditional circular dwelling used by various Pagan cultures across the world.

Associated with pre-Christian societies, they are said to reflect the architectural style and spiritual beliefs of the time, made using local materials and varying in size and design depending on the specific culture.

And now there is one in Connolly’s of Leap.

The iconic venue unveiled its stunning new roundhouse, which now acts as a stage in the outdoor section of the bar, and it’s already adding to the allure of the popular music spot.

Designed and made by Christy Collard of Future Forests West Cork, the roundhouse ceiling is designed with overlapping layers that ascend into a circular pattern, topped with a shallow clear dome structure at its centre.

It opens up into an outdoor canopy under which the audience sits. The entire thing is also kitted out front and back with custom-built speakers and lights.

As if we needed another reason to head to Connolly’s this weekend. Connolly’s is located on Main Street, Kilmacabea, Leap. They open Thursdays to Sundays from 5pm.
