Decent news on weather front as relatively dry week ahead for Cork

Not too much rain. What more can you ask?

After a rather miserable finish to 2021, the first month of the new year is trucking along in a fairly pleasant manner.

Met Éireann’s latest regional forecast for Munster tells of a week that will be mostly dry and cool, with only the occasional patch of drizzle or period of bitter cold.

Monday will see early morning frost clear, “leaving another dry day with sunny spells developing. It will turn cloudier through the afternoon.” Temperatures will hover between 6 and 10 degrees throughout the day, with potential lows of four degrees during the night.

Tomorrow will be a bit more dull and cloudy, though not especially cold, with temperatures sticking at around 11 degrees. Drizzle will move eastward across Cork in the morning, but ease by the mid-afternoon. Night will see the rain return, as well as the emergence of some fog.

Wednesday and Thursday will follow a similar pattern of brief drizzle in the morning giving ways to days that are mostly sunny and dry, with spells of rain remaining isolated. However, on both days temperatures are expected to fall to zero once night comes.

Friday will be a dry day with sunny spells and light breezes. Again it will be cloudiest over western and northern areas with the best of the sunny spells elsewhere. Highest temperatures of 6 to 8 degrees.
