Your help is required to make an insect-friendly refuge for bugs in a Cork park

Got some free time later this month?
The kindly folk from the Tramore Valley Park Insects Project are seeking volunteers to help them at an event called Meitheal for Insects on Sunday, September 21st.
From 11 am until 1pm at Tramore Valley Park (meeting at EcoLab) the group will shovel sand to construct a sandbank, use hand drills to make logs extra inviting for insects, help build log piles as part of new refuges and learn simple ways to create insect-friendly spaces in any garden.
“We’re rolling up our sleeves for a hands-on community day to support biodiversity in Tramore Valley Park.” say the organisers.

“Guided by ecologist John O’Sullivan and landscape architect Ron de Bruin, we’ll be creating new insect refuges to give our smallest park residents a helping hand.”
This event is part of the Tramore Valley Park Insects Project, supported by Community Foundation Ireland and the National Parks & Wildlife Service.
It’s free to take part but you must book your place first here.
