Catch a heartwarming movie with your pint at Cronin’s Pub next week

Still recovering from your post-weekend Fear?
Nothing calms frazzled nerves like a lovely feel-good movie and Crosshaven Film Club have got just the thing at Cronins Pub on Monday, December 4th at 8pm.
Written and directed by Hannes Holm, Man Called Ove is based on author Fredrik Backman’s 2012 best-selling novel of the same name.
Ove is the quintessential angry old man next door; an isolated retiree with strict principles and a short fuse, who spends his days enforcing block association rules that only he cares about and visiting his wife’s grave, he has given up on life.
Enter a boisterous young family next door who accidentally flattens Ove’s mailbox while moving in and earning his special brand of ire. Yet from this inauspicious beginning an unlikely friendship forms and we come to understand Ove’s past happiness and heartbreaks.
What emerges is a heartwarming tale of unreliable first impressions and the gentle reminder that life is sweeter when it’s shared.
Fill your rumbling belly with a big, steaming bowl of Cronin’s famous Mad Fish Soup while you’re in the neighbourhood. We feel better about all those Jägerbombs already.
