What’s this? Met Éireann forecasting 22C sunshine for the last weekend of summer

Don’t put away the deck chairs just yet.
Back-to-school season might be in full swing, but it looks like we’re getting another blast of glorious summer weather this weekend.
According to Met Éireann, today, Friday, will be a mainly dry day with good spells of sunshine and highest temperatures of 17 to 20 degrees. Tomorrow, Saturday will be another pleasant, dry day with plenty of sunshine as the mercury rises to 22C.

The forecasters say we can expect it to become more changeable and mixed again for the early days of September and the meteorological autumn with low pressure taking hold, bringing showers or longer spells of rain. But there’ll be some good dry spells with some sunshine too.
“There’ll be a good lot of dry weather for a time on Sunday in most areas with some bright or sunny spells for a time, especially further to the north,” they added.
It’s likely to be mostly cloudy here in the south, however, with a few spots of light rain and drizzle here and there.
Through the afternoon, it’ll become increasingly cloudy as rain moves in from the southwest and slowly spreads northeastwards across Munster, Connacht and south Leinster over the course of the rest of the day, with highest temperatures of 18 to 21 degrees.
