Wet weekend ahead, but Met Éireann is teasing ‘a drier interlude’ in the near future

It won’t be happening any time soon.
But Met Éireann believes August may still bring us some decent weather to round out a soggy summer.
While the outlook for this weekend is bleak, with widespread rain, winds and spot flooding likely in Cork, forecasters, the experts say there might be some relief from the incessant showers next week.
Of course, first, we can expect sunny spells and scattered showers today, some heavy, and showers will merge to bring longer spells of rain for a time this evening and tonight.

It’s more sunshine and showers on Saturday and Sunday, some heavy with a chance of local downpours leading to spot flooding and highest temperatures 17C to 19C.
‘Drier interlude’ on the way
After a dry start on Monday, there’ll be further sunny spells and scattered showers in the afternoon, some heavy, with highest temperatures of 18 to 21 degrees.
“Tuesday will be dry again in the morning with showers in the afternoon, becoming isolated again in the evening.” said a forecaster.
“Current indications suggest something of a drier interlude for a couple of days with higher temperatures leading into the weekend.”
