It’s about to get seriously chilly.
That’s the gist of the weather forecast for this weekend, with Met Éireann predicting that temperatures will plummet to below freezing on Sunday.
First things first: Saturday will be wet and windy with patches of drizzle and mist.
While it will be slightly dryer the following morning, the national forecaster says we can expect a “cold and blustery day with sunshine and scattered showers, some wintry.”
“Showers will become widespread across the country overnight and will turn increasingly wintry with some falls of sleet or snow.” say forecasters.
It will be “very cold and frosty with minimum temperatures of -1 to +3 degrees in fresh and gusty southwest winds.”
Wintry showers are set to continue on Monday with minimum temperatures of -2 to +3 degrees overnight and widespread frost. On Tuesday we can expect more of the same; the showers will bring a mix of rain, hail and sleet with some snow on high ground.
