WEATHER: ‘Chilly’ in Cork as Met Éireann forecasts hail and thundery showers

These showers simply aren’t letting up.
According to Met Éireann, the rain, cold and cloudy conditions are set to continue for the rest of the week before it eventually turns a little milder on Saturday.
By this afternoon, a few sunny spells will develop and the showers will at least become more isolated.
“A few showers may still be heavy, thundery and wintry on higher ground too. Perhaps a little chilly this afternoon with highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees in a southerly breeze.” said a forecaster.
We can expect scattered cloud and a few lingering isolated showers tonight, some wintry on higher ground. Longer clear and dry spells will develop overnight with temperatures of 0 to 2 degrees with a touch of frost possible.
Thursday will be cloudy during the morning with isolated showers developing.
“The showers will become more frequent and possibly heavy and thundery with hail, for a time late morning and afternoon.” added the forecasters. Highest temperatures will range from 8 to 10 degrees with light to moderate breezes.
Milder by Saturday
It will be cool overnight on Thursday too with lowest temperatures of -1 to 3 degrees with a touch of frost possible.
It looks like we might have to wait until the weekend for some more spring-like conditions – the weather is set to turn milder by Saturday when daytime temperatures will be back to around 12C.
