They’re en route to Oz right now.

But back home in Cork, football fans are getting ready to watch the Republic of Ireland Women’s National Team make history at their first-ever World Cup.

The team’s partner, Sky Ireland, has announced a series of free watch parties that will take place in their four flagship retail stores, including one in Cork.

As Vera and her squad prepare to take on Australia, Canada and Nigeria in the group stages of the tournament, Sky will host the parties at Mahon Point Shopping Centre on July 20th, 26th and 31st.

“In-store festivities will begin ahead of match kick-off in each store on match day and include former Women’s National Team players, face painters, cupcakes and much more,” they told us.

“All three fixtures will be shown live on Sky Glass TV screens around the stores. Each match day, there will also be a chance to win an exclusive Sky WNT Watch Party Kit for your own home.”

Match timings and dates are as follows:

• Game 1, July 20th: Australia v Republic of Ireland

11am (Irish time) in the Allianz Stadium

• Game 2, July 26th: Canada v Republic of Ireland

1pm (Irish time) in Nib Stadium

• Game 3, July 31st: Republic of Ireland v Nigeria

11am (Irish time) in Suncorp Stadium

Capacity in stores is limited and fans are encouraged to arrive early ahead of kick-off to avoid disappointment.
