Looking for a workout you’ll actually enjoy?
If planks and burpees are not your cup of tea and you’d run 10k to avoid a 5k challenge, this could be the lockdown workout you’ve been waiting for.
Cork Zumba coaches Jamie Grace and Siobhán Nic Fhlannchadha have teamed up to host a one-hour online double class tonight, Tuesday, at 6.30pm – and it’s all in aid of ARC Cancer Support Centre.
If you’re new to Zumba, all you need to know is that it’s a dance workout anyone can follow and it can burn up to 500 calories an hour. No matter what your fitness level is like, giving it a bash in your living room or kitchen is the perfect first step.
Here’s Jamie with an idea of what you can expect:

Most people find it’s more fun than the average exercise class so the time goes faster – just close the curtains, turn up the volume and bust out the best moves you can while following the instructors on-screen.
“Here’s how it works,” explains Jamie “We are asking for €4 for the class but whatever you can donate is appreciated. You can either send the donation to me through Revolute or else donate directly to the charity.
“Once your donation is made, send either me or Siobhan a screenshot of your proof of donation and then you will receive the link to the class. It’s that simple!”
If you can’t make tonight’s class, don’t stress; Jamie and Siobhán both teach 30-minute online Zumba classes on alternate days throughout the week so you can check out their profiles @Jamie_Zin_Cork and @zumbasiobhan to join in at a time that suits you.
