Trust us, you’re gonna wanna try this new afternoon tea menu

Hands up; we can’t resist an afternoon tea.
Throw in a cup of Barry’s Gold Blend and a menu inspired by Cork foods and landmarks and we’re already cancelling our Saturday spin class and booking a table.
Our next tea date will be at The River Lee Hotel, where they’ve just launched Slice of the City – a mouthwatering line-up of locally sourced cakes, scones and finger sandwiches with a distinctly Cork flavour.
Honestly, even the menu is a tribute to Cork, with cute illustrations on each page.
There’s an amuse bouche and Quigley Spiced Beef with horseradish creme fraiche to start, alongside curry spiced coronation chicken and dressed Ballycotton crab on homemade Guinness brown bread.
Afterwards you can sink your sweet tooth into lemon poppy seed and olive oil tea cake and homemade scones topped with a fresh dollop of Glenilen Farm cream.
Heaven.
But that’s not all; a chocolate and Beamish stout pudding crowned in chocolate discs bearing gold Cork landmarks makes for a fancy finish. And don’t forget to leave room for mini apple pies, raspberry and rose water air mousse and pistachio gateaux.
If you’re in the mood for something new, plump for the Red Chilli Chai instead of your usual Barry’s.
But what’s a long, luxurious tea without a glass of bubbles? Add one to your booking from €40 per person (call 021 425 2700 for details or to make a reservation).
