Trick or Treat Yourself: 4 autumnal bites you should be eating in Cork right now

Caramel, cinnamon, pumpkin… oh my!
Autumn has to be one of the best times of the year for food. Especially for decadent treats that warm your belly and your soul.
And there’s more happy news for grown-up trick-or-treaters; Cork City is jam-packed with options so we’ve decided to narrow it down.
Here are five autumnal bites to add to your list this season:
1. The Pumpkin Spice Loaf from the Bean Brownie Company
Just because it’s a treat doesn’t mean it has to be unhealthy. Bean Brownie Company has delivered in the vegan treats department with this naturally-sweetened, maple-glazed slice. If pumpkin isn’t your favourite just yet, you can also try their Dotey Loaf (bananas and walnuts – yum) or their Oatie Caramel Cookie Pies, made with gluten-free oats and filled with date caramel meringue buttercream.
Hit their Ballinlough Road location to fill a bag with goodies.

2. The Drizzled Caramel and Cinnamon Buns from Cafe Izz
There are few problems in the world that a gooey cinnamon bun can’t solve. The award-winning Palestinian Izz Cafe started off as a farmer’s market stall and quickly became a local hit, not least because of their decadent baked goods. In addition to sweet and savoury treats, their famous ground coffee can’t be found anywhere else in the city either.
You can pick up one of these decadent buns, drizzled with caramel and cream cheese icing and topped with pecans or even a bounty cake from their George’s Quay location.
