Tired but Wired? 5 interesting ways to bring more calm into your life in 2026

I don’t know anyone who isn’t, at least some of the time, tired but wired.
Bone-weary yet oddly unable to switch off, scrolling at midnight, waking up tense, wondering when “rested” became such a mad concept.
But in 2026, the pursuit of calm doesn’t have to involve moving to the Sheep’s Head or giving up your phone forever. Sometimes it’s about small, slightly unexpected tweaks—habits, rituals and ideas that quietly take the edge off.
Here are five interesting ways to invite a little more calm back into your life, without turning it into another thing on your to-do list.

1. Support your emotions from the inside out
Your gut can have a huge impact on your mood and stress levels. In fact, a staggeringly high 95% of the body’s serotonin, the happy hormone, is produced in your gut.
“The gut and brain are interlinked by various pathways, which is why the gut is often described as the ‘second brain’; there’s constant chatter and biofeedback between the gut and brain, known as the gut-brain axis,” says Dr Emma Derbyshire.
PrecisionBiotics Zenflore Calm – Emotional Balance is a one-a-day capsule that supports relaxation and emotions. It contains 1 billion colony forming units (CFU) of clinically proven Bifidobacterium longum 1714™, enhanced by 30mg of saffron extract to contribute to emotional balance and relaxation as well as and 1.4mg of vitamin B6, which support normal psychological function. 2. Try Craniosacral Therapy
If your body feels permanently switched on or flattened and overwhelmed, this might be worth knowing about.
As part of Craniosacral Awareness Month, an Experience Craniosacral Therapy Day will be held at The Natural Clinic, Sullivan’s Quay this March 22nd, giving people the chance to try the gentle therapy, which works with the nervous system to create a feeling of calm leading to restful sleep.
“Craniosacral therapy is often described as subtle, but it’s grounded in how the nervous system functions.” said Cork-based craniosacral therapist Louise Kane Buckley of Loula Natural.
“When the body feels safe, it has a remarkable capacity to settle and rebalance.”

3. Start small
Calm is increasingly found in the smallest, most intentional rituals— start in the bathroom with the new Tulsi & Snow Mushroom Cleansing Milk from Eminence.
This uplifting, milky cleanser transforms a practical step into a grounding pause, gently melting away impurities while restoring the skin rather than stripping it. Adaptogenic tulsi helps counter redness and the effects of environmental stress, while snow mushroom and reishi deliver deep, soothing hydration and antioxidant protection, easing puffiness and stress-related blemishes. Birch water adds a final layer of clarity, purifying and toning the skin while subtly shielding it from pollution. The result is skin that feels soft, calm and resilient—and a daily moment that encourages you to slow down, breathe deeply and reset, even on the busiest days.
Tulsi & Snow Mushroom Cleansing Milk is €59 here.

4. Gift yourself a retreat
Set on the wild Sheep’s Head Peninsula, the Seasonal Retreat Series at SONA Retreat in West Cork offers a gently immersive way to slow down and reconnect with yourself through the rhythms of nature. Led by yoga teacher, astrologer and Reiki practitioner Karen Olivia Kiely, alongside sound healer Raghav Khanijow, each one-day retreat is thoughtfully aligned with the equinoxes and solstices, weaving together yoga, sound healing, Reiki, story medicine, seasonal ritual and astrology, plus a nourishing homemade lunch.
From the Spring Equinox’s quiet promise of new beginnings to the expressive fullness of the Summer Solstice and the reflective release of the Autumn Equinox, these retreats invite participants to move, rest, reflect and recalibrate in a calm, heart-led setting—either as a one-off reset or as a way to walk the full wheel of the year.
