‘Time to bring back an old relic’: A much-loved pub is reopening in Passage West

It’s always sad when a village pub closes down.
But in a rare piece of good news for the industry, The Tavern Bar & Lounge in Passage West is getting ready to reopen under new ownership.
The pub, which has been closed for four years, has been taken over by the team behind The Ensign in Monkstown.
“A new addition; time to bring back an old relic to the town of Passage West,” they announced on Facebook.
The three-storey end-of-terrace building has bars on the ground and first-floor levels with a large beer garden to the rear.
Sadly, with the sign removed and weeds growing from the roof, it had become dilapidated in recent years and the Passage West community is pleased the building will soon be ship-shape and ready for a new era.
While the new owners haven’t revealed any details about the interior just yet, they have confirmed that The Tavern will be “reopening in the near future”.

“Wow best of luck,” added Vicky O’Connell. “It was a great bar in its day, cheers to new memories.”
