Three of the best places in Cork to try new wines during October

Bored of your usual bottle?
If you find yourself ordering the same old wines again and again, there’s never been a better time to set out on a path of discovery and have a little fun in the process.
‘Tis the season for a sneaky glass of vino in a cosy bar or restaurant and there are plenty of Cork spots hosting special events designed to introduce wine drinkers to a whole world of new names.
Here are three wine events to check out in October:
1. Daytime wine at Naturally Nourished
EVENT POSTPONED Penrose Dock
Is there a better way to spend a Saturday? Not in our book. Naturally Nourished is hosting an afternoon of wine and food pairing on Saturday, October 15th, with a traditional Basque-inspired menu of tapas and pintxos and a selection of tasty bottles introduced by Fionnuala Cherry.
“Expect croquetas, tortillas, moorish-influenced tapas, cheeses, and more as well as pairings of cava, southern French rose, and Catalonian red and white wines,” they told us.
All served to the soothing background music of classical guitarist Colin McLean.

2. A Blind Wine Tasting at Le Caberet
Friday, October 28th, 2022, Washington Street, Cork
Ideally timed for a little after-work tipple to round out the week and kick off the Jazz Weekend, there’s a Blind Wine Tasting happening at Le Cabaret Cork on Friday, October 28th.
Beginning at 5.30pm, Kate from the Wines of the World team will lead a tasting of three wines after a Prosecco reception to get your creative juices flowing.
“No matter what your level of wine knowledge is, you will come away with some new nuggets of information,” Kate told Yay Cork.
At the end of each wine, Kate will reveal the wine you have enjoyed together. The tasting will finish around 7pm and guests are welcome to stay at Le Cabaret to enjoy the jazz.
Tickets are €48 at WinesOfTheWorld.ie.
