This new MacCurtain Street gourmet shop sells only TWO foods

We could happily survive on both these delicacies alone.
A new gourmet store has opened on MacCurtain Street… with only two items on offer.
Its specialty? Parmesan cheese and the finest balsamic vinegar.
Newly opened in a sliver of a shop in the heart of Cork’s vibrant Victorian Quarter, Preziosi Balsamic & Parmesan is the artisan shopping basket of owner Elisa Righi, who is determined to bring the best produce from her hometown of Modena in Italy to Cork.
And it’s an absolute treasure trove for home cooks and wannabe chefs.
True foodies will appreciate the carefully curated selection of balsamic vinegars, imported to Ireland directly from Acetaia del Cristo, one of the most important producers in Italy.
This intensely flavoured barrel-aged balsamic is a favourite amongst celebrities and chefs all over the world and prices range up to €175 for a 25-year-old bottle (you can taste each one in-store, follow them on Facebook for new additions).
Even Michael Douglas has a barrel on reserve.
No Italian dish is complete without a shaving of parmesan and Preziosi Balsamic & Parmesan is where you’ll find the gold standard; 4 Madonne Parmigiano Reggiano.
Aged for 24 months, it scooped Super Gold at the World Cheese Awards in London last year.
As well as chunky blocks of parmesan from about €8, the shop is also home to various parmesan-related books, kitchen gadgets and accessories, so it’s ideal for a spot of Christmas shopping for the foodie in your life.
Or, you know… for filling up your cupboards with a personal stash of luxury goodies for Friday night dinner.
