Determined to be more sustainably-minded this year?
The first free monthly evening community market of 2020 takes place on Wednesday, February 5th, with all kinds of opportunities to swap, reuse and recycle everyday items – all while enjoying some coffee, tea and chats.
It’s all organised by Cork LETS (Local Exchange Trading System), a co-operative where members trade services and items using the ‘LETS credit’ system instead of cash.
The market takes place on the first Wednesday of every month (you can join LETS for free here) from 7.30pm at the South Parish Community Centre, Sawmill Street, Cork.
Stallholders turn up with everything from organic vegetables and plants to books, tools, arts and crafts, music and clothing.
The Evening Market runs from 7.30pm until 9pm, ideal timing if you’re looking for something to lure you away from the television for a few hours on a dark midweek evening.
You can also bring items to trade and recycle so it’s a good excuse for a wardrobe or shed clear-out this weekend – you could swap that cluttered junk pile for a month’s worth of fresh produce or a shelf full of new books.
Not bad, eh?
