Looking for a truly off-grid experience?
Nestled in a tranquil oasis just outside Macroom, Cork’s newest Airbnb will sweep you off your feet and into the treetops, quite literally.
Ark Ranch Treehouse is open for bookings and filling up fast (the next available dates are in September) with stunning views, a private balcony, and a comfy space for kicking back in the countryside – all while making your childhood dreams of a sleepover in a treehouse come true.
Located on an organic farm (your neighbours will include some friendly donkeys, horses, and dogs), the treehouse was built using locally sourced or reclaimed materials.
A bright and airy cabin with large windows, it’s perfect for a romantic escape or a family adventure and can comfortably accommodate two adults or a ‘cosy’ family of four, sleeping two children on the sofa bed.
You won’t be roughing it either; there’s a fully functioning bathroom complete with shower, flushing toilet, and hand basin with hot water as well as a kitchenette with a fridge, electric kettle, toaster, Nespresso machine, and a small electric hob.
The cabin is heated by a small wood-burning stove.
“You can curl up by the fire and read a book or enjoy a glass of wine on the balcony. If you’re feeling adventurous the picturesque Lough Allua is less than 5km away offering fishing and kayaking, and this area of natural beauty is perfect for cycling and hill walking with many official signposted routes.” says host, Aga.
Gougane Barra and the Gearagh nature reserves are within a 20-minute drive to and bikes, kayaks, and a boat are available to hire.
Guests will find milk and eggs in the fridge, along with bread, jam, porridge oats, tea, and coffee so you can prepare your own breakfast in the morning. It’s an excellent opportunity for a digital detox too; mobile coverage is very poor in the cabin.
Fancy kicking off the autumn with a treehouse getaway? The Ark Ranch Treehouse is available for booking at €120 per night (two-night minimum) via Airbnb.
