Looking for a fun pressie for a foodie?
Sicilian Delights on Magazine Road and in the Marina Market is the spot to hit for the best panettone in town this Christmas.
Inside the colourful tins, a collaboration between design house Dolce & Gabbana and the artisan panettone makers Fiasconaro, you’ll find a traditional Milanese panettone with a Sicilian twist.
The large tins are around €45 with smaller tins available from €18.
It’s the perfect host gift if you’re a dinner guest this festive season and it’s also a lovely pressie for teachers and neighbours, presented in a smart gift bag to save you any wrapping hassle too.
In case you’re new to panettone, the iconic Italian Christmas treat is a festive delicacy renowned for its sweet, airy texture and rich flavour.
This domed, yeast-leavened bread is studded with candied fruits, citrus zest, and sometimes nuts. Its origins trace back to Milan, where bakers meticulously craft the dough through a lengthy process, resulting in a light, fluffy interior.
Traditionally enjoyed during the holiday season, its golden-brown crust is best served sliced into wedges, with a nice cup of tea or coffee.
Flavours include apple and cinnamon, pistacchio and Agli Agrumi (made with citrus fruits and Sicilian saffron).
You can hit Sicilian Delights for lunch at The Marina Market and pick up some Sicilian wine and croccanti misti to take home too from Monday to Sunday, 9am to 8pm.
