This free workshop will teach you how to grow an urban garden

The glory of gardening: hands in the dirt, head in the sun, heart with nature.
— Alfred Austin
There’s something incredibly peaceful about switching off your phone and digging about in the soil for a few hours, especially if you live in the city, where green space is scarce.
If lack of experience and know-how has put you off getting your hands dirty however, an upcoming workshop could be the confidence boost you need.
A group of enthusiastic and passionate novice growers are holding a free Urban Greening workshop in the South Parish on Sunday, March 25th.
Guided by members of the Green Spaces for Health team, the group will plant a range of fruit trees, herbs and flowers at various spots in the city – and everybody is invited to participate.
The aim is to transform South Parish into an urban oasis and all you need to help out is some suitable clothing and a can-do attitude.
The Urban Greening workshop begins at 12pm and runs until 2pm, meeting at the Langford Hall Medican Centre carpark on Douglas Street in Cork City.
To book your free place in the group, contact Finola or Adam by emailing greenspacescork@gmail.com.
