This free talk will explore myths and folklore around Ireland’s wolves

Did you know that wolves were once so plentiful in Ireland that it was referred to by outsiders as ‘Wolf Land’?
Nope, neither did we.
That’s why we’re intrigued and ready to find out more when Dr Kieran Hickey hosts a public talk on the subject at Cork Cricket Club on Wednesday, November 14th.
The author of Wolves in Ireland, A Natural and Cultural History, Dr. Hickey will talk about the archaeological evidence of wolves, the origin of Irish place names linked with them, as well as the mythology, folklore and superstition around wolves.
The causes for the decline and extermination of the wolf will also be covered.
The event, which runs from 7.30pm to 9pm, is organised by Cork Nature Network and tickets (free of charge) are available here.
