“I’ll be poisoned!”

Grandparents aren’t always thrilled at the prospect of trying something new, but Eva Mc Carthy’s Nana Margaret played an absolute blinder when the student (22) asked her to give some fast food favourites a bash.

Eva’s friends adored her Snapchat videos featuring her granny, so she decided to film a little experiment for everyone to enjoy on YouTube.

Having swung by the local McDonalds for a few staples (a Happy Meal, chicken nuggets, sweet and sour sauce, a vanilla milkshake) with a quick stop at Cork institution Fast Al’s for a slice of pizza, Eva sat down at the kitchen table with her Nan for a feast worthy of a 3am post-nightclub binge.

Despite her protests, the brave granny persevered through each course, munching her way through a variety of brand new flavours and offering her opinion on each one.

Posting the video on Instagram, Eva reminded viewers that fast food is not something her granny is at all familiar with.

“Please bear in mind my granny is 83 years of age, who has lived off a strict diet of potatoes, with a side of meat, practically her whole life.”

Having finished their experiment with an M&S chocolate chip cookie, Nana Margaret gave her verdict: It was Fast Al’s for the win, with the cookies a close second.
