This free Cork workshop might be the wholesome reset you didn’t know you needed

Is your screen time report starting to look like a cry for help?
If you’re sick of doomscrolling, we’ve got a much nicer alternative for your lunch break.
Say hello to the Dawn Chorus Art Workshops — a wholesome little slice of calm happening right in Cork city, and honestly, it sounds like the exact antidote to the creeping gloom of the world right now.
To celebrate Bealtaine Festival, these free sessions invite you to ditch your phone for some drawing, painting, stencils, and collage — all inspired by Irish songbirds and their very elite vibes. You’ll get to play around with watercolour pencils, blend colours, and try new techniques.
There’ll be background music, creative energy, and zero notifications interrupting you every 12 seconds. Bliss.
It’s all happening in the Thomas Davis Room, City Library, Grand Parade from Tuesday, May 19th (running for four weeks, 12pm – 1.30 pm).
It’s completely free (we love to see it) but spots are limited, so you’ll need to book ahead: email music_library@corkcity.ie
or call 021 492 4919.
Try Zentangle
And if you’re still in your mindful era, there’s also free Zentangle workshops running on Wednesdays — think chilled-out doodling, relaxing music, and zero pressure to be “good” at art. Same booking details apply, so you can double down on the calm and make May your most peaceful month yet.
