This fabulous Cork mural just popped up in town

It’s a whopper.
Residents of the Lower Glanmire Road were thrilled to discover a new piece of art on their doorstep this week.
A bold and bright ‘Welcome to Cork City’ mural now takes pride of place on the wall at McMahon’s Builder’s Providers on Water Street.

Created by artist, designer and illustrator Garreth Joyce, the full-size mural celebrates Cork’s top billing in the Condé Nast Traveler survey of the world’s friendliest cities.
Cork ranked third in the top ten globally, just behind Mexico’s San Miguel de Allende and Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic.
Joyce worked on the piece (in terrible weather) over a number of days.
Awarding the spot to Cork, the US travel magazine described Cork as “an intimate (and picturesque, thanks to its riverside location) town… bursting with cosy pubs and beer gardens, where you can ‘enjoy the outdoors while sharing a table with friendly locals’.”
