This Cork street was consumed by heaps of mesmerising rainbow-dyed foam

The squeals of delight were audible.
A fabulously fun and playful art installation brought a flurry of sheer joy to onlookers of all ages in one of the most atmospheric parts of Cork on Sunday.
As part of a unique artwork by German artist Stephanie Lüning, a mountain of pastel-coloured foam bubbles began building on Cork’s iconic John Redmond Street from 3pm, with huge chunks breaking off in the wind and floating magically into the sky.

The spectacular installation (made from water, biodegradable soap, and food colouring) was created live by the artist, growing and constantly changing as it absorbed the surrounding street before disappearing without a trace.
Lüning, who hails from Dresden, works mainly with public art interventions, painting, drawing, and sculpture and has shown her works in countless museums and art festivals all over Europe. Her public foam actions “push boundaries for spectators to experience three-dimensional paintings”, and have been shown in London and Paris.

“This sublime and entrancing transformation of public space explores the limits of painting as the artist selects and blends colours which take mountainous form and dimensions before the artwork finally disappears.” said the Cork midsummer crew.
