This Cork playground is getting a garden makeover with new fairy trails and sensory areas

It’s the centre of all activity for kids in Clonakilty.
And now the seaside town’s busy playground is about to be completed with a brand new garden design just outside the gate, complete with fairy trails, sensory and picnic areas and lush biodiversity planting.
While an ambitious plan for an amphitheatre on the land just outside the playground was turned down, Cork County Council has officially granted permission to move ahead with the garden design.

The project is being funded by the town’s Clonakilty Playground Fundraising team, which is behind the popular annual Clonakilty Charity Ball. Tickets for this year’s event at Fernhill House Hotel on November 23rd go on sale soon.
“The amphitheatre originally planned cannot go ahead, but we will deliver a beautiful amenity with the funds raised.” said a spokesperson for the group.
“We are beyond excited and can’t wait to see this amazing contribution come to life in our town.”
