West Cork artist Katherine Kneefel creates hand-drawn pet portraits from photographs.

Working from her Blue Badger Studio in Dunmanway, Katherine, who is mum to both a baby boy named Hugo and a dachshund named Pippa, sketches incredible likenesses that are guaranteed to delight any animal fanatic.

All she needs to get started is a clear photo.

“I love when I get a good shot of the eyes and face (because that is where the expression mainly is) and often makes for the best pose for a fabulous illustration.” says Katherine.

“A trick you could try is having their favourite treat ready under your camera and telling your furry friend to sit. They will look at you with the most loving and adoring eyes, and the pose is always great!”
