This clever company will supply all the gear for a wild camping trip on the Beara Way

Curious about wild hiking and camping?
If you’ve been hearing the call of the wild for a while now but you’re not quite brave enough to answer it without some decent safety precautions and guidance, this could be the deal you’re looking for.
Solcoach Expeditions is inviting adventurers to head out on a Wild Camping & Hiking Expedition along the Beara Way and Bere Island this weekend, Friday, June 28th… and they’ll even supply and transport all the gear you need to spend a weekend under the stars.

With Novice tickets from €110, you can immerse yourself in rugged landscape and reconnect with nature over three days as experienced guides lead you along the Atlantic coastline and through native Irish woods.
What’s the plan?
Meeting in gorgeous Glengarriff at 10am on Friday, June 28th, Solcoach Expeditions provide their guests with a sleeping system (professional two-person tent, inflatable mattress and pillow ) a cooking system (gas burner for two) a drinking system (50l water filter and hydration system) and a rucksack with waterproof protection.
They’ll even hand you your hiking poles – all you need to bring is your supplies and a sleeping bag.
Day One will take you through Glengarriff woods on the Beara Way up to the Sugarloaf pass, made famous by Ultimate Hell Week, before lunch at Toberavanaha Lake, and a hike along the Beara Way down to your camp for the night at Adrigole. You can cook dinner on an open fire, camping under the open skies by the Atlantic Ocean.

Day Two takes in the slopes of the famous Hungry Hill, climbing the SE ridge for breathtaking views and a ferry to Bere Island for a short hike to the camp area. Afterwards, you’ll have your own time to grab a pint or explore the island before bedtime.
On the last day, after waking to the dawn chorus and enjoying breakfast al fresco, it’s off to the Ogham stone at the centre of the island and a hike up to the high cross before a stunning walk to Ardnakinna Lighthouse. After a short hike back to the ferry, you’ll be transported back to Glengarriff where you can deposit your gear instead of lugging it home with you.
