This beautiful antique cash register ended up in a Cork city charity shop

It’s a little piece of retail history.
A beautifully made original cash register has found its way to a Cork charity shop and fans of everything vintage have pushed the bidding over €800.
The ornate till, which boasts decorated brass all over with floral details on the cash drawer and pop-up indicators at the top, is currently on sale at the Down Syndrome Cork Charity Shop in Merchant’s Quay.
Two rows of keys are perfectly preserved, more than 130 years after it was made.
The cash register was gifted to the shop by the family of one of the members of Down Syndrome Cork, who had it in their home for years.
“This beauty will be going to the highest offer soon.” store manager Brenda Cantillon told Yay Cork, although there is still time to get your name in the hat if you fancy owning it yourself.
“Send your details and offer to [email protected] or call into our shop in Merchants Quay and give us your details,” Brenda added.
With bids expected to reach up to €1,500, all money raised by the sale of the cash register will benefit Down Syndrome Cork and Field of Dreams, Cork.
