These teeny weeny avocados are now available in Cork
These are kind of genius.
Every avocado fan knows that they do not keep their lovely green freshness in the fridge.
Now Tesco has provided us with a solution; behold the Zilla Egg.
Zilla Eggs are small, snack–sized avocados. Available in packs of six (€3.50), the fruit – which are the size of an egg – will be sold in recyclable egg style boxes to prevent them from getting spoiled.
Smaller than the standard avocado, these egg size avocados were first brought to market as a method of tackling food waste.
They’re ripe and ready too so no need to hang around for weeks waiting for your avocado to become edible.
The rare, mini avocados or Zilla Eggs are about a third of the size of regular avocados so they contain about 120 calories.
The size and delicate skin, which can be peeled away by hand, makes them the ideal snack.
The best bit? You’ll never have to find half a brown avocado lurking in your fridge again.
