Brought to you by Heart of Spain.
Remember lazy tapas lunches with lashings of wine?
Most of us missed out on our annual dose of Spanish sunshine this year, but one Cork company is bringing all the flavours of your favourite holiday destination to the table for Christmas.
Heart of Spain, Cork’s premium Spanish food emporium, has just unveiled a selection of glorious hampers to suit all budgets, each one stuffed with goodies from one of the most famous food regions in the country.
For the past few months, this family-run business has been filling their shop in the Fota Retail Park in Carrigtwohil with the best picks from Spanish artisan producers, wineries and growers so you can spoil someone special with a gourmet treat over the holidays.
Open up one of the gift hampers and you could be tucking into a Christmas Eve feast of luscious pate, rosemary cured cheese and Chorizo Leon, with aromatic olive oils to use in your cooking on Christmas Day.
Cork-based Spaniards will enjoy a taste of nostalgia in the polvorones, a traditional holiday shortbread cookie made from almonds and hazelnuts, while the selection of traditional Spanish wines is guaranteed to pair well with your leftovers throughout the holidays.
In fact, there’s so many items in each hamper you’ll be enjoying them well into the New Year. You can even customise your very own hamper on all orders over €80.
The Castilla Y Leon Hamper (€100) comes in three luxury editions: Cured Meats, Cheese or Foie Gras. Each one contains everything you need to take someone on a tasting tour of Spain… without leaving the kitchen.
The sleek black box even contains an apron for the house chef and a free Castilla Y Leon Guide to the region’s famous delicacies so you can plan your own visit while learning about every morsel in your hamper.
Treat yourself to a New Year’s Eve Kit
New Year’s Eve will be a low-key celebration this time around, but Heart of Spain have a special hamper to make sure you enjoy a night in like no other.
The New Year’s Eve Hamper (€80) includes two bottles of fizz to pop for the countdown (one Brut, one Rosé), three Iberian Ham, Tejas de Almendra, a jar of Spanish olives, one Orange Chocolate, some delicious Pedro Ximenez Pate, Gran Reserva Cheese and apple jelly to serve with your tapas selection.
Happy New Year indeed – or feliz año nuevo, as they say in España.
