These Cork siblings will send you veggie seeds in the post (and help you grow them)

‘As the garden grows, so does the gardener.’
There’s nothing as satisfying as charting the growth of some seeds you planted yourself, even if you only have a little pot perched on a sunny apartment windowsill.
Now there’s a new local service that will deliver any seeds you fancy growing to your doorstep – especially handy if you plan to tackle the garden during the coming weeks.
Cork-based brother and sister team Cáit and Danny have launched Sow.ie, an online shop dedicated to keeping Irish people growing at home while they self-isolate.
“We couldn’t get vegetable seeds ourselves and knew everyone was finding it hard to get them,” Cáit told Yay Cork.
“We know first-hand the importance of our connection with nature and its rhythm, and so thought we would empower others to get their fingers green and connect with nature.”
You can get their Seasonal Seed Bundles (a selection of three-packs of seasonal, non-chemically treated broccoli, red onion and leek seeds) for just €6.69 and shipping is free if your order is over €20.
Put in a little graft now and you could be plucking fresh spring onions, broad beans, cucumber and basil from your very own vegetable patch in no time.

“Having roamed the fields together in our youth, and wandering the world in recent years, we’re back at home and here to help you grow your very own patch of nourishing veggies.” say the seed experts, who are based in Watergrasshill.
Bestsellers include their organic romaine lettuce (you can pluck off a leaf or two for your salad) and they can also deliver organic worm compost by the bag (it’s the only certified organic compost manufactured in Ireland) and organic seaweed fertiliser to keep your plants strong and healthy.
If you’re new to the grow-it-yourself thing, the ‘How to Grow’ section offers a simple primer on the basics.
