These are the absolute best Christmas sandwiches in Cork (3 to try today)

By Yay Cork December 13, 2019December 13, 2019

Can’t wait for Christmas dinner?

If you’ve got a hankering for festive food before December 25th, there are plenty of Cork spots serving up that magical leftovers sandwich before Santa has even boarded his sleigh.

The best Christmas sambos involve turkey, ham or spiced beef, layered up with all manner of extras, from stuffing to cranberry sauce and pickles. The main thing is excess, the bigger the better.

Here are three to try at lunchtime:

1. The Christmassy Sandwich

Where? Arthur Mayne’s, Pembroke Street

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Cork’s busiest wine bar. They’ve just unveiled their Christmassy Sandwich with all the trimmings; turkey, ham, cranberry, stuffing and rocket. It’s the perfect excuse for a lunchtime glass of vino too.

2. The Santie

Where? Joes and Bros, Winthrop Arcade

Here’s one you can grab on the go on your way down Oliver Plunkett Street. The Santie involved glazed turkey breast drenched in cranberry and apple gravy topped with melted brie, pickled fennel and onions and granny smith apple slaw. You can sit in too if you like.

3. The Deep Fill Spiced Beef

Where? The Rocket Man, Princes Street

This festive monster is anchored by the most Christmassy meat of all; spiced beef. It’s also loaded with pickled cucumber, fermented garlic, pickled cabbage and spicy mayo.
