There’s an anti-Black Friday swap shop happening in town

Choosing to avoid the spending frenzy that is Black Friday?
If mindfulness floats your boat more than materialism, a Cork City gym is hosting an event you might enjoy this evening, Friday, November 29th at 6pm.
Aclaí, located in the Crawford Business Park on Bishop Street, is hosting a Swap Shop where anyone can bring their unwanted bits and bobs along and trade them for something better or more useful.
Posting an open invitation on Facebook, the Aclaí team said:
“Right lads, this black Friday bollox is coming around again at the end of the week. A worldwide marketing campaign designed to make us buy more shit that we don’t need, with money we don’t have, and to profit people who couldn’t give a monkies about us.”
“We’re hosting a swap shop at ACLAÍ as a counter Black Friday event in the ACLAÍ social space. Bring along 5-10 items you have that you would like to pass on to a good home or swap. Clothes, shoes, blankets, books, records, whatever. Anything left over at the end of the night will be delivered to a charity shop on Monday.”
The fun continues until 9pm, check Facebook for updates.
