On your bike for Palestine.
As harrowing reports of Israeli bombings on schools, refugee camps, and hospitals continue to flow out of Gaza and what many are calling an ongoing genocide approaches its one-month mark, events and fundraisers are continuing to pop up in Cork City to raise awareness and fundraise for medical supplies.
Cork Palestine Solidarity Campaign, which will this Saturday host their fourth consecutive rally and protest on Grand Parade, has also announced a secondary event to take place on Sunday so that people can show their support: a Cycle For Palestine.
“We found that for many of us, whilst the rally and protest were something which we really needed and felt invigorated by each week, by Sunday morning the desire to get out and do something was again overwhelming. And we didn’t want to wait until the following week to do something again,” the campaign organisers told Yay Cork.
“There is a lot of energy right now and we want to harness it by giving Leesiders as many opportunities as they can to show their support for Gaza,” they added.

The group will meet on Sunday, November 5th at Nano Nagle Bridge, head down the South Mall, towards the bus station, cross over the Mary Elmes bridge, and then cycle towards Myo, over the bridge and break out on Washington Street where they’ll get back onto the cycle lane, towards Patrick street and turn up onto Winthrop Street, up Oliver Plunkett Street and back to Nano Nagle Bridge again.

The solidarity group is also asking people to come out in Palestinian colours, with flags or any other Palestinian symbols they have at home.
“We’ll provide some flags as well on the day, but it would be great to bring your own wherever possible- it just has to be attachable to your bike so you can keep two hands on the wheel,” they added.
The Cycle for Palestine takes place at 11am on Sunday, November 5th. All ages are welcome and adults are reminded that minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian in order to take part.
